South Indy 10U Sharks Capture Brickyard Division State Championship
The South Indy 10U Sharks delivered a championship performance at the Brickyard Governors Cup (Indiana State Tournament), skating away as Brickyard Division State Champions after an electric weekend of hockey. From explosive offense to steady goaltending and clutch play in the biggest moments, this team left no doubt—they were the team to beat.
Adding to the excitement, Gibson Koutz and Ethan Age led the entire state tournament leaderboard, finishing #1 with 16 points and #2 with 11 points, an incredible accomplishment that highlighted the Sharks’ offensive dominance.
Game 1: Fighting to the Final Buzzer
The Sharks opened the tournament with a thrilling tie. Mason Day (#9) struck first in the opening period, followed by a second-period goal from Gibson Koutz (#7). In the final minutes, with the pressure on, the Sharks completed the comeback as Koutz buried his second of the game to even the score.
Huxleigh Taylor stood tall in goal, keeping the Sharks in the fight from start to finish.
Game 2: Statement Win
Game two was all Sharks, as 10U shut down Columbus with a dominant 7–2 win. Goals came from up and down the lineup with Noah McGowan (#96), Gibson Koutz (#7) (2), Huxleigh Taylor (#27), Athena Benitez (#22) (2), and Mason Bemmer (#32) finding the back of the net.
Harper Rader delivered a strong performance in goal to secure the win.
Game 3: Pool Play Power
The Sharks kept rolling in pool play, earning a 7–2 win over the South Bend Irish. Ethan Jones (#1) and Gibson Koutz (#7) each scored twice, while Huxleigh Taylor (#27) put on a show with an impressive hat trick.
Once again, Harper Rader was a wall in net, shutting down scoring chances and fueling the Sharks’ momentum.
Game 4: Offensive Explosion
In another matchup against Columbus, the Sharks skated to an 8–3 victory. Gibson Koutz (#7) led the way with four goals, Ethan Jones (#1) added three, and Ethan Age (#13) found the scoresheet. The Sharks flexed their depth with three different players recording hat tricks in a single game.
Harper Rader continued his strong play in goal, anchoring the defense.
Championship Game: Governors Cup Champions
The championship game brought everything together. The Sharks rose to the moment with a 6–3 win over the South Bend Irish, capturing the Governor’s Cup and the Brickyard Division State Title. Goals were scored by Mason Day (#9) (2), Leo Ward (#15), Ethan Age (#13) (2), and Ethan Jones (#1).
Harper Rader was steady between the pipes as the Sharks closed out their championship run.
