South Indy 14U Sharks Make an Epic Run at the Governors Cup
The South Indy 14U Sharks put together an unforgettable weekend at the Governors Cup, finishing as Indiana State Runner-Up after an incredible tournament run. Winning every game leading up to the championship, this team showed resilience, depth, and heart from puck drop to the final buzzer.
From dominant shutouts to clutch scoring, the Sharks proved they belonged on the biggest stage in the state.
Game 1: Strong Start, Setting the Tone
The Sharks opened the tournament with a statement win. After a scoreless first period, Owen Day (#88) broke the ice with the Sharks’ first goal of the tournament in the second period. Easton Taylor (#27) followed up to seal the deal.
Between the pipes, McKennon Taylor was rock solid, earning a shutout to kick off the weekend.
Game 2: Offensive Firepower
Game two showcased the Sharks’ depth and scoring ability in a 5–2 victory. Goals came from all over the lineup with Landon Koutz (#17), Easton Taylor (#27) netting two, and Owen Day (#88) adding two of his own.
Easton Brunet delivered a strong performance in net, keeping momentum firmly on South Indy’s side.
Game 3: Complete Team Dominance
The Sharks continued rolling with a commanding 4–0 win over Evansville. Goals were scored by Landon Koutz (#17), Easton Taylor (#27), Philip Rossman (#82), and Owen Day (#88).
Once again, McKennon Taylor shut the door completely, earning his second shutout of the tournament.
Game 4: More Shutout Magic
Four goals, zero against—it was becoming a theme. The Sharks picked up another 4–0 win, with goals from Easton Taylor (#27) (2), Emmitt Boesgaard (#6), and Owen Day (#88).
This time it was Easton Brunet with an epic shutout, making it clear that the Sharks’ goaltending duo was locked in and unstoppable.
Championship Game: A Battle to the End
The title game came down to the final two minutes in a hard-fought battle. While the Sharks fell just short, their effort, grit, and determination never wavered. Finishing as Indiana State Runner-Up, this team left everything on the ice and represented South Indy with pride.
